Eugène Allard is a regional family business. It all began in 1920, when Mr. Allard, a native of Grand-Mère in Mauricie, opened a hat shop. Following the closure, it all began in 1933 when Eugène purchased newspaper scraps to sell to butchers and fishmongers. The distribution of packaging products followed, and Eugène handled delivery and distribution on his bicycle. Due to high demand, the addition of various distribution lines was necessary, including waxed paper, ribbons, and more. The first warehouse opened in 1950 in the town of Jonquière, and the head office is still located there to this day. A family business also means the arrival of his son, Charles-Eugène, in the company. He quickly became involved in the 1970s and 1980s by making new acquisitions. He contributed to the development of new product lines, including maintenance paper and new lines of specialty merchandise. In the late 1980s, the third generation joined the company. Jean-Denis Allard joined in 1986 and has served as President and CEO ever since. Christine Allard has been Purchasing Director since 2000. With the help of their father, Charles-Eugène, they opened the 40,000-square-foot distribution center in Quebec City. They grew the company by adding more specialized production lines and building an 80,000-square-foot distribution center in Jonquière. Today, the company has over 140,000 square feet of warehousing.

Over time, the company wanted to offer everything, both for merchants and individuals. It was in 2005 that Andrée Laforest, the wife of the President and CEO, launched the idea of opening a store to the public and that's when the one in the city of Chicoutimi was born. She helped grow the company by getting involved on several levels, more specifically by making purchases. It started with a self-service warehouse store evolving into the "Eugène Allard Cuisine et Tendances" store. A bistro corner, a Shack Santé and a cooking school were also developed to offer you a great experience. It was in 2019 that the fourth generation took over the retail business. Always with the aim of expanding, the branch in the city of Alma opened its doors in 2017 and, in 2021, the acquisition of a new establishment in Quebec City allows us to cover a larger territory and, thus, allow more people to discover our passion for cooking. We have been the reference in both coffee and electrical appliances for several years and it is important for us to always be on the lookout for new products by participating, for example, in international events. We are proud to have several representatives on the road ready to inform you and to have our own fleet of trucks.

Over the years, we have continued to grow and improve our services to meet all your needs. Our greatest wish is to make you love cooking as much as we do, to help you discover what we are passionate about, and to do so with the biggest smiles and the greatest happiness.

Eugène Allard Cuisine et Tendances acquires the Arès company representing 3 stores in the greater Montreal area

Founded in 1933, Eugène Allard is a Quebec family business that has distinguished itself for four generations through its passion for cooking and the art of good taste.

Initially focused on wholesale trade, the company has evolved over time to offer everything — to both retailers and individuals.

In 2005, Andrée Laforest, the wife of the president and CEO, suggested opening a store to the public. This idea marked a turning point: the first store in Chicoutimi was opened. She contributed greatly to the company's growth, particularly by being involved in purchasing and retail development.

This self-service warehouse store would later evolve into Eugène Allard Cuisine & Tendances, a unique concept integrating a bistro corner, a Health Shack and a cooking school, in order to offer a complete experience to our customers.

In a constant spirit of innovation, the Alma branch opened its doors in 2017, followed in 2021 by the acquisition of a new establishment in Quebec, allowing Eugène Allard to share his passion with an even wider audience.

In 2019, the fourth generation took over the retail business, ensuring the continuity of a family tradition focused on quality, proximity and personalized service.

In January 2024, Eugène Allard acquired the company Ares Cuisine, marking an important step in its expansion into the Montreal region.

Since October 2025, the Laval and Saint-Hubert stores proudly display the new Eugène Allard identity, a symbol of expertise, passion and continuity in the art of good taste.

Today, we offer a wide selection of kitchenware, coffee machines and home products, aimed at professionals and passionate amateurs alike.

Always on the lookout for the latest trends, we participate in international events to present the latest innovations. We are proud to have several representatives on the road and our own fleet of trucks to offer you fast, friendly, and attentive service.

Our mission remains the same: to inspire creativity and comfort through quality products and exceptional service.

Our greatest wish is to make you love cooking as much as we do — with the biggest smiles and the greatest happiness.
