During his 47 years in the family business, Georg Riedel, representing the 10th generation, became the father of functional glassware, focusing his entire career on creating glasses specifically for specific drinks to enhance their enjoyment. Now, Georg presents his swan song series to the world: RIEDEL Winewings.
One summer in 2018, Georg was asked by a client to create the "ultimate glass" for Cabernet Sauvignon. Over 12 months of testing, tasting, and changes in the shape, size, and diameter of the rim, Georg's Cabernet-only glass went through seven phases of development. In the end, a completely new shape emerged for this highly popular grape variety.
With its flat bottom and reminiscent of an airplane wing complete with fins, the RIEDEL Winewings was born and even ready to take flight!

Maintaining your RIEDEL crystal
- RIEDEL glasses are dishwasher safe. RIEDEL exclusively recommends MIELE.
- To avoid stains: use soft water (low mineral content).
- To avoid scratches: avoid contact between the lenses and each other or with metal.
- To remove stains: use white vinegar
- If available, use a support for the stems of the glasses.
When washing by hand,
- Wash the glass under hot water (use dishwashing liquid and rinse the glass thoroughly).
- Polishing the glass: Use two cloths for polishing; never hold the glass by its base to polish the chalice.
- Stem breakage: occurs during improper handling = do not twist or apply pressure to the stem.
- Storage: Avoid storing glasses in kitchen cupboards where strong odors can settle on the glasses.
Microfiber polishing cloth.
- Wash at boiling temperature (to destroy bacteria) with an odorless cleaning product.
- Should be machine washed at a temperature of 170°F/75°C minimum.
- Never use fabric softener in the rinse water of your microfiber polishing cloth (to avoid a greasy film on the surface).
