Why a boot?
The beer boot, or "Bierstiefel" in German, was supposedly introduced by a German general. The general promised his troops a glass in his boot if they were victorious in battle. Once victorious, the general had a glass boot to keep his promise to his troops.
The trick
Beer Boot Drinking from a beer boot can be challenging and can result in an unexpected beer shower if not done correctly. The trick is to slowly point your toe to the left or right as the glass is emptied. If the toe is pointed upward while drinking, the toe will build up pressure and release unexpectedly, spilling beer everywhere.
